What the book is about

Religion is the first form of cognition, and cognition is the gathering of information. Before humans had science and abstract thought, it was cult that answered the questions "why" and "what for."

Advertising is the transmission of information that the recipient did not ask for. A hawker's cry, a signboard over a shop and a message on a phone screen work in the same way: they reach a person who asked nothing.

The economy rests on three operations: transmitting information, creating value, creating trust. We find the same three operations in cultic activity, and this is where the likeness between religion and advertising comes from.

The hero of the book is a particular human being. He lives in an objective world and changes by the laws of evolution: from Neanderthal to Cro-Magnon and on to us.

Two Circulatory Systems

Religion can be seen as the circulatory system of society, and advertising as the circulatory system of the economy. The prologue explains how the authors arrived at this hypothesis and what it lets us see.
